Dr. Joseph Sterling Henderson A native of Long Island, NY, Dr. Henderson received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology/Chemistry from Molloy College in Rockville Centre, NY in 1987 and worked as a Respiratory Therapist until 1994. After graduating with honors from the Los Angeles College of Chiropractic (now Southern California University for Health Sciences) in April, 1998, he joined a group chiropractic practice in West Hollywood, CA. In 1999 Dr. Henderson moved back to the Washington, DC area and began working with Dr. Jo Anne Nelson in Alexandria, VA in the historic Old Town district. In April, 2000, Dr. Henderson took over Dr. Nelson's practice and remained in the Old Town area.
Dr.
Henderson combines chiropractic manipulative therapy with soft tissue
therapy, nutritional counseling,
exercise and rehabilitative therapy. He specializes in repetitive stress
disorders, sports and exercise injuries,
and general preventative health
and wellness care. Better health is a team effort, between doctor and
patient. The
goal is optimal health with emphasis on spinal alignment and proper spinal
motion, correct muscle balance and function, leading to improved nervous
system
operation.
As an avid rower with the DC Strokes Rowing Club, Dr. Henderson understands the roles of diet, nutrition and exercise in both athletic performance and overall health, and incorporates these ideas into his patient care. His years in the hospital setting combined with his understanding of the role of structure and function of the musculoskeletal system offer a balanced approach to health.
